With the Malta Hochalmstraße, we have our sights set on the panoramic road to Austria's highest dam. We head for it via a wonderful Italian-Slovenian motorcycling experience.

We reach Lake Predil via Tarvisio in Italy and then the winding Predil Pass, which leads from Italy to Slovenia. The emerald-colored Soča then accompanies us on the tour and shows us its beautiful valley. Then the Vršic Pass packs 50 hairpin bends in front of the front wheel and ensures excitement behind the handlebars.
The historic Wurzenpass then leads back to Austria and after a leisurely cruise along Lake Millstätter See, the Malta Hochalmstraße experience can begin from Gmünd. At the toll booth, you can once again pay for a section of the Carinthia panoramic road ticket and over 14 kilometers of rock tunnels, hairpin bends and waterfalls await you. At 1,933 meters, you reach the Kölnbrein dam, the highest dam in Austria at 200 meters. A walk on the Airwalk should definitely be on the program - at least for people without a fear of heights.
Before heading back over the Kreuzberg, we recommend a visit to the artists' town of Gmünd, which is also worthwhile because of the "Helmut Pfeifhofer Porsche Car Museum". To be on the safe side, you should fill up on calories in one of the lovely cafés, as the way back to Tröpolach still has plenty of bends and intensive steering work to offer.
This affordable discount card for the panoramic roads is available directly from the Hotel Garni Zerza. The ticket consists of four sections, which must be handed in for each panoramic road. Further information is available directly from the hotel. This tour is included in the panoramic roads.
