Motorcycle tour for connoisseurs

This route is not very long in itself, but you should allow plenty of time for it, as there are countless sights and places to stop for refreshments in addition to the impressive romantic landscape.

We ride from Tröpolach to Hermagor and continue in the direction of Villach as far as Nötsch. Before the bridge over the road, we turn right and arrive in the village of Nötsch, where we turn left towards Bleiberg. Here we ride through a wild and romantic high valley where lead and other metals were mined just a few years ago. You can still see the huge spoil heaps today.

We continue along this road until we rejoin the Drau valley north of Villach after the village of Fellach. We keep left here. At the traffic circle, take the exit in the direction of Spittal. Now we ride a few kilometers through the lower Drau valley until we take the turn-off to the right towards Puch just before the village of Töplitsch. Immediately after the Drau bridge and the railroad crossing, we turn left into the village of Puch. After a short climb in the village, turn right into Krastal. This short connecting valley between Drautal and Gegendtal is very winding and very well developed. It joins the Gegendtal just above Treffen. We continue to the left towards Radenthein.

Via Afritz, Afritzer See, Brenn See and Feld am See we reach the traffic circle in Radenthein. We ride halfway around the roundabout and continue straight on to Lake Millstättersee. Now we cycle through the villages of Dellach, Millstatt and Seeboden along Lake Millstatt. After Seeboden or after the highway entrance, we turn left into the Lieserschlucht gorge in the direction of Spittal. In Spittal we ride through until we see Porcia Castle across in front of us (Porcia junction). Here we turn left and ride out of the town towards Villach.

After a few kilometers we reach the village of Mautbrücke. Immediately after the bridge, we take a sharp right turn and cycle uphill to Ziebl and on to Zlan. After the village of Zlan we come to the Stockenboier Landesstraße. Here we continue to the right via Stockenboi in the direction of Weissensee. About three kilometers before the eastern shore of Lake Weissensee, the road branches off to the left. We want to continue there, but not without having driven to the eastern shore first.

Via Weissenbach, the Forchtensee lake and the village of Boden, we ride to the Kreuzner Landesstraße and turn right here to the Windische Höhe (1,110 m above sea level). From there we continue via Matschiedl down to the Gailtaler Bundesstraße (B111). Here we turn right and ride past St. Stefan to Förolach. Immediately after the petrol station, we turn sharp right and head south under the road, cross the railroad line and after a good kilometer reach a fork in the road, where we continue left.

Now we half circle the mountain ridge on the right in a huge right-hand bend and ride roughly along the Gail towards the west. Via Dellach, Egg and Neudorf we reach Hermagor and cross the railroad line. At the traffic circle, we turn left into the upper Gailtal valley and reach the village of Tröpolach after approx. 9 km.
