Motorcycle tour description
We drive from Tröpolach towards Hermagor - at the ÖAMTC or before the Hermagor signpost, turn right towards Möderndorf - from there continue to the Egger Alm. The road is well maintained and offers many idyllic views. At the first bend is the entrance to the Garnitzenklamm gorge. This gorge is only accessible on foot, but is well worth a visit. You should take the time to visit it.
Another 13 hairpin bends wind their way up the road and after approx. 11km you reach the Egger Alm. Two inns for refreshments and many smaller huts provide accommodation for dairymen and residents during the summer months (1,416m above sea level). We continue along the road to the next alpine pasture, the Dellacher Alm. At the Dellacher Alm we keep to the right and take the uphill road. After approx. 7km we reach the Poludnigalm (1,724m above sea level). We can park our motorcycles in a small parking lot in front of the hut.
Watch out: Sometimes the cattle are also interested in the motorcycles gleaming in the sun.
Tip: Park your motorcycles in the closed-off parking lot. Use the break for a short walk around the alpine pasture, a view of the 1,999m high Poludnig, or for a nap on the fresh alpine pasture green.
Watch out: The Eggeralm is an excursion destination, so there is a lot of oncoming traffic. The road is asphalted and very winding. The route from Dellacher Alm to Poliudnig is only partially asphalted.
Special features: The famous "Gailtaler-Almkäse" cheese is also produced on the Egger Alm. The famous "Kaiser Schmarr`n" is served on the Dellacher Alm at the "Paula". If you want to swap your motorcycle for hiking boots, you can reach the Poludnig summit from the Poludnig Alm in 45 minutes.
