We have included the Villach Alpine Road as one of the highlights of this winding route, as the crisp panoramic road is really something special.
Kilometers: | 323 km |
Travel time: | approx. 6.5 hours |
Road conditions: | asphalt |
After the approach via Bad Bleiberg, Villach is quickly reached, a section of our ticket is validated and 166 bends and 7 hairpin bends await us, spread over an incredible 16.5 kilometers of motorcycling. Once at the top, there is a phenomenal view of Villach's local mountain, the 2,166-meter-high Dobratsch, as well as the Julian Alps and the Karawanken. The "Rote Wand" viewing platform is recommended for those with a head for heights.
On the rest of the tour towards Klagenfurt, you pass Lake Faaker See, which is not only known to Harley fans. Velden am Wörthersee is home to the castle famous from the TV series and a bust of Roy Black, who once played the leading role in "A Castle on Lake Wörthersee".
With the Gurktal valley, the motorcycle roads take over the main role again and they have it all. An ingenious spectacle of bends that takes a short break around Feldkirchen and then picks up speed again from Himmelberg to Lake Millstatt, past Lake Afritz.
The return trip to Tröpolach, over the Windische Höhe and past Lake Pressegger See, rounds off a successful motorcycling day in style.
This affordable discount card for the panoramic roads is available directly from the Hotel Garni Zerza. The ticket consists of four sections, which must be handed in for each panoramic road. Further information is available directly from the hotel. This tour is included in the panoramic roads.
