The Nassfeld region is not only known for hiking, cycling and skiing. For passionate botanists, the blue flower Wulfenia carinthiaca is an absolute highlight.
The Wulfenia is one of the most strictly protected plants here in Nassfeld. It can only be found in the area around the Gartnerkofel, Mörderndorfer Alpe and Kron Alpe and grows at an altitude of 1300 to 1900 meters.
How the flower came to the Nassfeld region remains unclear as this plant species otherwise only grows in the Himalayas or in Albania.
