The Sauris Tour 1
This motorcycle tour takes us to the province of Friuli, and we’ll also briefly pass through the province of Belluno. It winds through wild landscapes and towns, some of which have not yet completely lost their medieval charm . But it also takes us through endless curves and just as many elevation changes. We’ll also return to the town of Sauris, which we’ve already mentioned in a previous tour description.
Just to add: In Sauris di Sopra (Obersauris), there’s a charming little spot on the right side of the road where they serve not only locally brewed beer but also the famous and very delicious ham. Stopping here to take a break and enjoy the moment is sure to make the tour even more memorable.

Motorcycle tour description
We ride from Tröpolach via Nassfeld to Pontebba. Here we have the option of either riding over the Sella dei Cerechiats and the Aupa Valley to Moggio and on to Tolmezzo, or through the Fella Valley (normal route) to Tolmezzo. At the traffic circle in Tolmezzo, take the route towards Passo di Mauria. In Villa Santina, make sure you stay on the right road and don't take the route to Ovara.
In Ampezzo, near the edge of town, the turnoff to Sauris is on the right. This mountain road winds through numerous curves and a few unlit tunnels all the way to Sauris (1,362 m above sea level). Stopping at the reservoir and taking in the view of the rugged gorge is a special experience. From Sauris, the road winds through impressive scenery, culminating at the Sella di Razzo (1,760 m above sea level).
The road winds through alpine pastures until it reaches an intersection. We keep to the left and head down into the valley to Pelso di Cadore. From there, we drive back via Lorenzago di Cadore, the Mauria Pass (1,295 m above sea level), and the aforementioned Ampezzo, all the way to Villa Santina. Here, we must not miss the intersection leading to Ovaro or Comeglians; we turn left in that direction. In Comeglians, we turn right toward Paluzza, Timau, and the Plöcken Pass (1,360 m above sea level) to Kötschach. From there, we turn right through the Gail Valley back to Tröpolach.
