The swimming trunks tour
This motorcycle tour takes you through a beautiful part of Carinthia with lovely landscapes and many cultural assets. If we wanted to describe everything, we would have to write a big book. Nevertheless, you should take enough time for this trip because there is a lot to see and places where you will want to linger. But don't forget your swimming trunks either.
Conclusion about the swimming trunks tour
After this long motorcycle ride, we can relax and look back on an eventful day. Hopefully we had enough time to take a dip in the lakes.

Motorcycle tour description
We drive from Tröpolach to Hermagor and through the Gitschtal Valley (Weißbriach) and over the Kreuzberg (1,077 m above sea level) to Lake Weissensee (approx. 930 m above sea level—the highest swimming lake in the Alps). Here, near Techendorf, we cross the pier and continue along the lake to Naggl—or Obernaggl. At the wayside shrine, you’ll find the best view of the fjord-like Weissensee. You’ll need to drive back along the same road to Kreuzbergstraße and follow it down into the valley to Greifenburg. Here, turn right onto the Drautal federal highway and drive to Spittal.
In the center of Spittal, turn left toward the Lieser Gorge and Lake Millstatt. The Lieser Gorge is a very interesting and winding drive. At the end of the gorge, turn right toward Lake Millstatt. It is the deepest lake in Carinthia. Now we drive along the lake to Radenthein. At the edge of Radenthein (roundabout), we turn into the Gegendtal valley and head toward Villach. Here, we’ll soon pass Lake Brennsee and Lake Afritzer See, which, according to legend, were split apart by the Giant of Mirnock. After Treffen, we turn toward Lake Ossiacher See.
Caution: It’s easy to get lost at intersections and roundabouts. We’ll drive along Lake Ossiach, through Sattendorf, Bodensdorf, and Steindorf, and continue on to Feldkirchen.
Warning: Speed limits are strictly enforced at Lake Ossiach! In Feldkirchen, turn right toward Lake Wörthersee or Krumpendorf. In Krumpendorf on Lake Wörthersee, turn left toward Klagenfurt, drive south along the lake to Viktring, and then turn right again toward Lake Rauschale and Lake Keutschach.
In Keutschach, we turn right to Reifnitz and Maria Wörth and now ride along the beautiful Wörthersee-Süduferstraße to Velden am Wörthersee. Here we continue to Rosegg im Rosental and from there to Faaker See. In Egg am Faakersee we keep south along the shore and continue to Finkenstein, Fürnitz, Arnoldstein, Nötsch and further along the Gailtalbundesstraße in the direction of Hermagor to Pressegger See.
If you haven't unpacked your swimming trunks yet, you should take the opportunity to do so at Lake Presseggersee. It is one of the warmest bathing lakes. You can also refresh yourself in this lake in the late afternoon or at the end of the tour. The last few kilometers to Tröpolach bring an eventful day to a close.
