The 1000 bends tour

On this tour , we’ll ride through some truly charming landscapes that constantly invite you to stop and take it all in. You should definitely take full advantage of these opportunities, even given the tour’s length and the winding roads. The mountain scenery in the province of Belluno (Cortina) is particularly stunning, as is the Lesachtal Valley—and, really, everything on this motorcycle tour.

Motorcycle tour description

We drive from Tröpolach over the Nassfeld Pass to Pontebba. From there, we follow the Canal Valley to just before Carnia. Here, we turn off toward Tolmezzo. In Tolmezzo, stay on the “Passo di Mauria” route (Villa Santina). This valley climbs steadily and winding up to the pass summit (1,295 m above sea level) and then descends rapidly to Pelos di Cadore. From here, the road turns south, where you turn right toward the west at Pieve di Cadore. Shortly after Venas die Cad, turn left onto a side road toward Forno di Zoldo.

Note: It’s easy to miss this turnoff. In between lies the Passo Cibiana (1,530 m above sea level). In Forno di Zoldo, turn left and drive to Dont. From there, continue to Fusine via the Passo Staulanza (1,773 m above sea level) and on to Selva di Cad. From Sela, the route continues over the Passo di Giau (2,235 m above sea level) to Pocol and on to Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Passo di Giau is a delight for every cyclist. At the top of the pass, be sure to take the time to enjoy the panoramic view.

From Cortina, head toward Lake Misurina via the Passo tre Croci (1,805 m above sea level) and continue over the Col S. Angelo (1,756 m above sea level), passing the Three Peaks, to Dobbiaco in the Puster Valley. Here, turn right toward East Tyrol and continue via Sillian to Heinfels. In Tassenbach, turn right toward Kartitsch. Over the Kartitscher Sattel (1,530 m above sea level)—where the Gail River has its source—you enter the winding Lesach Valley, which you drive through all the way to Kötschach. From Kötschach, the route continues through the Gail Valley to Jenig. In Jenig, after the gas station, turn right toward Rattendorf and follow the road back to Tröpolach.
